Questions

Fault finding: common questions.

Can you tell what is wrong from a photo or video?

Often we can narrow it down. A short video of the fuse board when it trips, or a photo of the fitting, helps us arrive with the right parts.

Is a tripping fuse board dangerous?

Tripping usually means the protection is doing its job. Repeated tripping means something needs attention, so do not keep resetting it and ignoring it.

What should I do if I smell burning?

Switch off the circuit at the fuse board if you can do so safely, stop using it, and get in touch. If there is smoke or fire, leave and call 999 or 112.

Do you fix the fault on the same visit?

Where the cause is clear and the parts are standard, yes. If it needs more work, we explain it and quote before going further.
